Throughout the year, Blessed Sacrament offers Bible and book studies. Many of these studies follow the liturgical seasons such as Lent and Advent. However, others are parishioner requests, such as when we've studied the Mass or done the Called & Gifted workshop in years past. Some studies are sponsored by various ministries like She Shall Be Called Woman, YAMS, or our Lay Dominicans. Others are led by clergy, staff, or parish members. Whatever you're looking for, we are happy to help find resources for your formation on a personal or group level. With enough interest, we can organize a group to study with you!

A Lived Mariology
Daily Marian Life
The Blessed Mother is essential to Schoenstatt’s spirituality. The Virgin Mary is more than a devotional aid or pretty piece of art, but rather real access into the heart of God. To understand Schoenstatt and our Catholic Marian tradition better, Fr. Mark is offering eight Tuesday classes based on Father Joseph Kentenich’s book, Mary, Mother and Educator (1954). The goal of the class is to grow in understanding Mary of Nazareth, how she is connected to the Church and Schoenstatt, and how she can be a help in our daily faith lives.
The class will resemble more Lectio Divina than simple assimilation of information. Each participant is invited to meditate on the contents of Father Kentenich’s book and discover how Christ’s mother and Schoenstatt’s spirituality can help them in their own faith life. A commitment to some work outside of the meeting times is asked to make the dynamic fruitful.
Tuesdays at 6:30 PM | St. Dominic Room, Parish Center
September 23 & 30 | October 7, 21 & 28 | November 4, 18 & 25
Led by Fr. Mark J. Niehaus, I.S.P.

Encountering God in the Scriptures
Gospel of Luke
God speaks to each of us personally through the Bible, his word. Studying Scripture is not just an intellectual exercise, through which we learn of God’s love for us and the story of his plan of our salvation. It is also the primary means through which he speaks to us personally, thus drawing us into a personal encounter with him. Lectio Divina is Latin for “divine reading,” and is a is a method for praying with the Scriptures.
“As one reads, and invites the Word to become a transforming lens that brings the events of daily living into focus, one can come to live more deeply and find the presence of God more readily in the events of each day.” [Sr. Antoine Lawlor, IHM, D.Min]
Our Encountering God in the Scriptures series is designed to engage with the Word of God with both the mind and the heart. The group studies one book of the Bible at a time using the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, spending approximately 45 minutes reflecting on the meaning of the assigned text and 20 minutes of silent Lectio in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Experienced leaders draw participants deeper into the process of encountering God in and through his Word.
For 2025-2026, we will be studying the Gospel of Luke.
